Nick Saban reflects on the recruitment of Ole Miss RB Quinshon Judkins

There is no hiding the fact that Alabama’s defense will have its hands full trying to stop Ole Miss running back Quinshon Judkins on Saturday. Alabama head coach Nick Saban spoke with the media on Wednesday about the talented freshman running back. “We looked at him coming out last year. In hindsight, it’d be great if he was on our team,” he said.

Interestingly enough, Judkins is from Pike Road, Alabama which is about a two-hour drive from Tuscaloosa. However, the Tide never extended him an official offer.

Judkins has amassed 1,000 yards on the ground this season while also rushing for 13 touchdowns. That is remarkably high for a true freshman in the SEC. The fact that a successful coach like Saban was quoted as wishing he was on his roster should speak volumes to Judkins’ potential.

Alabama hasn’t had too much trouble stopping the run this season. That could change if the Tide do not show up ready to play in Oxford. The Rebels have a two-headed monster in the backfield in Judkins and Zach Evans. It will be interesting to see how Alabama plans on slowing down Judkins in Saturday’s game.
