Nic Batum sees a lot of Terance Mann in young Sixers guard Jaden Springer

DETROIT–Young Philadelphia 76ers guard Jaden Springer is continuing to find his spot in the league. He has taken steps forward on the floor in terms of his defensive work, but his offensive skill set still needs some polishing up a bit.

In his third season in the league, Springer has averaged 11.3 minutes per night in 12 games and averaged 3.4 points and 1.8 rebounds on the season. That is a big jump up for him from 3.0 minutes per game as a rookie and 5.6 per game in the 2022-23 season.

While Springer is still looking to find his way, Sixers veteran Nic Batum compared the young guard to another young guard he played with while a member of the Los Angeles Clippers: Terance Mann.

“I like him,” Batum said of Springer. “I like him a lot. You know, it’s funny because I was talking to a friend about it like, he reminds me a little bit of Terance Mann when I got to the Clippers three years ago. It was same situation for him and Terance Mann so he ended up doing pretty well so I can see the same growth in him.”

Mann has a similar skill set to Springer in terms of his ability to defend at a high level, offer up skills at multiple positions, and toughness to be able to give the Clippers an option on the wing.

Mann is a guy that Springer would love to be at as they move forward in his career. If the third-year guard out of Tennessee can add a 3-point shot to his game, then that makes a big difference for both his and Philadelphia’s future.
