NHL not disciplining Austin Watson after dangerous hit on Rangers' Tyler Motte
Ottawa Senators forward Austin Watson will not be punished by the NHL after a dangerous hit on Rangers forward Tyler Motte during Thursday night’s game, per multiple reports.
Watson left his feet and elbowed Motte directly in the face. Motte was forced to leave the game and did not return due to an upper-body injury.
Watson received a major penalty and a game misconduct for the hit during Ottawa’s 5-3 win. He received a fine of $4,000 back in December for a hit on Dylan Larkin in December.
The Rangers return to the ice on Saturday for a matinee against the Boston Bruins. Puck drop is set for 1 p.m.
