NFL: Quarterback Power Rankings for Week 3
Here’s where each NFL quarterback stands heading into Week 3 of the regular season.
1. Cam Newton
The reigning NFL MVP bounced back from an early interception to drop 353 yards and four touchdowns on the Niners this week.
2. Ben Roethlisberger
It wasn’t Big Ben’s best game but he did manage to get a win, unlike the other “elite” QBs, even with a quiet Antonio Brown.
3. Aaron Rodgers
Rodgers rewarded our number one spot last week by playing arguably the worst game of his career against Minnesota.
4. Philip Rivers
Rivers smoked the Jaguars for four touchdowns and a 138.9 passer rating. Losing Danny Woodhead is another tough blow, though.
5. Carson Palmer
Through two games Palmer has a perfect 5-0 TD/INT ratio and is averaging 8.52 yards per attempt. He appears to be over his preseason issues.
6. Drew Brees
Every year we seem to forget that Brees is not nearly as good a QB on the road. This week he was outshined by a touchdown-less Eli Manning.
7. Andrew Luck
The more things change the more they stay the same. Luck was sacked five times by Denver and is getting no help from his run game.
8. Matthew Stafford
Stafford was sacked four times and Golden Tate totally disappeared against Tennessee. He needs more help to stay in the top ten.
9. Russell Wilson
A sprained ankle has taken away much of Wilson’s mobility. Until he’s back to 100 percent the Seahawks are going to have a rough time.
10. Carson Wentz
While Jay Cutler was making rookie mistakes, Wentz looked like a ten-year veteran on Monday night. This kid is something special.
11. Andy Dalton
Despite airing the ball out 53 times Dalton simply couldn’t crack Pittsburgh’s surprisingly tough defense. He’ll need to figure them out eventually.
12. Brock Osweiler
Houston may have won out but two picks by Osweiler didn’t help the effort much. A tough test in New England comes next.
13. Sam Bradford
Was he worth a first-round pick? No. Still, Bradford gives the Vikings hope of a playoff run. His passer rating is second in the NFL.
14. Ryan Fitzpatrick
Thursday night was maybe the best performance we’ve seen from a QB with only one touchdown. Can you believe the Jets tried to low-ball him?
15. Eli Manning
In year two under McAdoo Manning looks as calm as ever. He’s also averaging a stellar 8.33 yards per pass attempt.
16. Matt Ryan
Ryan’s big game has to be tempered by an Oakland defense that’s been a major disappointment. He’s moving up though.

17. Derek Carr
Here’s a positive sign for Carr: so far he’s yet to throw an interception. If he could play defense too the Raiders would be in business.
18. Blake Bortles
His deep ball is excellent but until he can fix his accuracy issues (31/50 this week) the Jaguars offense will be limited.
19. Joe Flacco
Baltimore may be 2-0, however their competition has been anything but stiff. Flacco’s numbers are underwhelming considering.
20. Jameis Winston
Four picks and three sacks against the Cardinals makes Winston the goat of the week in the NFL at quarterback.
21. Tyrod Taylor
How can a QB be so brilliant on deep balls and struggle so much with short crossing routes? Taylor is an enigma.
22. Dak Prescott
So far Prescott is managing the game well enough for Dallas but he’s yet to throw a touchdown through two weeks.
23. Alex Smith
Only four quarterbacks around the NFL are averaging fewer yards per attempt than Alex Smith so far this season.
24. Marcus Mariota
Mariota looked much sharper this week and finished with a passer rating over 100. He may feast on the Raiders the way they’re going.
25. Trevor Siemian
All Siemian has to do is keep his turnovers in check and not make big mistakes and the Broncos are golden. So far so good.
26. Jacoby Brissett
A short week for a third-string quarterback going against an excellent defensive line with the entire world watching. Welcome to the NFL, rookie.
27. Ryan Tannehill
He’s faced some tough customers (Seattle, New England) and Tannehill is still averaging 288 yards per game. Not bad.
28. Kirk Cousins
It may be completely unfair but Washington is one loss away from a full-blown quarterback controversy. Cousins needs a big Week 3.
29. Jay Cutler
We don’t know how long Cutler’s sprained thumb will keep him out just yet. At this point Bears fans may not even care.
30. Blaine Gabbert
Gabbert is averaging 204 yards per game and a dismal 5.82 yards per attempt. How bad can Colin Kaepernick really be?
31. Case Keenum
Through two games Keenum is completing less than 54 percent of his passes and has yet to throw a touchdown. Horrible.
32. Cody Kessler
