NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah believes Seahawks are arguably less talented than Jags without Wilson

It’s been a surprisingly difficult start to the season for the Seattle Seahawks. They sit at just 2-5, and with quarterback Russell Wilson out for at least this week’s game, the outlook isn’t great for the rest of the season.

After losing to New Orleans on Monday night, Seattle has the chance to bounce back on Sunday against a 1-5 Jaguars team. Seems like an easy win, right?

Not so fast, says NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah. In an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, he said that the Seahawks shouldn’t count on a win on Sunday.

“We can just kind of say flippantly, ‘well, you beat the Jags,'” Jeremiah said. “I don’t think that’s a done deal… They’ll be coming off a bye, they’ll be rested. You take Russell Wilson out of the equation, I can make a strong argument the Jags are a more talented team than the Seahawks.”

That’s certainly a bit of an unorthodox opinion, but it’s not exactly unfounded. The Seahawks defense is among the NFL’s worst against both the run and the pass, and while the receiving corps is solid, Smith hasn’t been able to get the ball to those players effectively.

Running back Chris Carson is also out with a neck injury, and the tag-team duo of Alex Collins and Rashaad Penny hasn’t done much in his absence.

This team is struggling quite a bit right now, and while Jacksonville has its own issues, this game feels winnable. The Jaguars will hope that Jeremiah is proven right on Sunday when they head to the West Coast to take on the Seahawks.
