NFC West Review: Deebo Samuel requests trade, more Kyler Murray drama

It’s been a while since we checked in with our frenemies around the NFC West. Yesterday’s big news about the best player on San Francisco’s roster wanting out is worth a post, though.

Let’s see what the Niners, Rams and Cardinals are up to right now.

49ers: WR Deebo Samuel requests a trade

The guy that has been making Jimmy Garoppolo look good these last few years has had enough. According to reports, Deebo Samuel has officially requested a trade. It seems the disagreement is not over money but rather how Samuel has been used on the field. Deebo leaving would obviously be a huge blow for the 49ers’ passing game, which doesn’t have any other high-end weapons outside their elite tight end George Kittle.

Rams: QB Matt Stafford had procedure

Next up, the reigning Super Bowl champions had their franchise QB undergo a minor procedure recently. Stafford says he got an anti-inflammatory shot that will require his throwing arm to be in a brace for a while. Stafford says it will make things easier in the long run. Like former Seattle QB Russell Wilson (33), Stafford is still playing at a high level for his age (he’s 34), but he took a lot of punishment during his years in Detroit.

Cards: QB Kyler Murray trade rumors

This offseason has been a busy one for quarterback drama in the desert. Arizona’s young star Kyler Murray is unsatisfied with his contract and wants a new one. The two sides appear to be at an impasse and Murray’s agent has pulled his original contract offer. Now there’s talk that Murray might actually get traded during next week’s NFL draft.
