Western Kentucky safety suspended for hit

The Sun Belt Conference has suspended Western Kentucky safety Jonathan Dowling for one game as the result of a helmet-to-helmet hit during Saturday's game against Southern Mississippi.

Dowling, who is tied for the FBS lead in interceptions with four, was ejected from the game after the collision and likely will miss the Hilltoppers' next conference game against Arkansas State.

Western Kentucky officials are appealing the ruling.
