After being unable to land a commitment from either Jacob Park or David Cornwell, who have elected to attend Georgia and Alabama, respectively, Virginia Tech finally received a verbal pledge from a Class of 2014 quarterback.

Frank Beamer and the Hokies landed a commitment from Andrew Ford of Cedar Cliff High School (Camp Hill, PA) on Sunday. The 6-2, 187-pound pocket passer was at the Hokies' camp this offseason and performed well, making a strong impression on Beamer and his staff. The Hokies now have ten commitments for 2014.

The left-handed Elite 11 selection is rated as a three-star recruit by Rivals.com and is considered a bit of a wild card in the 2014 QB class. His offer list wasn't long, as Temple and UMass were his only offers before Beamer and the Hokies became interested. But the invite to the Elite 11 Quarterback Camp had started to pique the interest of other programs.

The pro-style signal-caller threw for 2,957 yards and 35 touchdowns as a junior last season.
