Virginia Tech 82, Maryland-Eastern Shore 66

Forward Jarell Eddie posted game-highs with 17 points and nine rebounds, leading Virginia Tech to an 82-66 win over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Tuesday at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Va.

Guard Devin Wilson added 16 points for the Hokies in their finale of their non-conference season. Virginia Tech (8-5) resumes Atlantic Coast Conference play at home Saturday against No. 2 Syracuse. The Hokies are 1-0 in the ACC, as they posted a 61-60 overtime victory against Miami on Dec. 8.

Virginia Tech snapped a two-game losing streak. They were blown out by Virginia Commonwealth and fell to North Carolina Greensboro.

The Hawks (2-9) lost their seventh game in a row and fell to 0-7 on the road.

Maryland-Eastern Shore plays at Mississippi State on Thursday before starting its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference schedule at Savannah State on Monday.

Forward Troy Snyder and guard KyRee Jones each scored 15 points for Maryland-Eastern Shore, though Jones shot just 4-for-13 from the floor. Guard Louis Bell finished with 14 points, and guard Isaac Smith III added 10.

Virginia Tech scored the final eight points of the first half to take a 46-23 lead at the break. The sequence including an Eddie 3-pointer and layups from guard Will Johnston and Wilson.

Earlier, a 17-4 surge gave the Hokies a 24-10 lead. Three Virginia Tech players hit 3-pointers in that run.
