Source: Jazz to sign Elliot Williams to 10-day contract

The Utah Jazz expect to sign guard Elliot Williams to a 10-day contract, a league source told Yahoo Sports.

Williams had been averaging 21.3 points, 7.7 assists and 4.7 rebounds for Santa Cruz of the NBA Development League.

Williams was traveling to Salt Lake City on Tuesday to take a physical and is expected to fly to Chicago to join the team for Wednesday’s game against the Bulls, sources said.

The Jazz recently lost starting shooting guard Alec Burks to the season to a shoulder injury while reserve guard Patrick Christopher suffered a dislocated knee.

Williams, 25, was the 22th overall pick of the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2010 NBA draft. Several injuries derailed his career, but he regained his health to play 67 games for the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2013-14 season.
