Richmond 86, William & Mary 78 (2 OT)

Kendall Anthony scored six of his 15 points in the second overtime, and the Richmond outlasted William & Mary 86-78 on Wednesday to improve to 5-0 in home games this season.

Darien Brothers' 20 points led five Spiders (5-2) in double figures. Derrick Williams added 17, Greg Robbins had 14 and Cedrick Lindsay scored 12.

Marcus Thornton led all scorers, pouring in 22 points for William & Mary (3-3), which got 20 points from Tim Rusthoven, 16 out of Kyle Gaillard and 14 from Brandon Britt.

This was the 198th meeting on the hardwood between the two schools. William & Mary hasn't beaten Richmond since 2000-01, and lost the two prior head-to-head games by a combined margin of 55 points. The Tribe kept this one interesting, as Richmond required heroics both at the end of regulation and the first overtime just to prolong the game.

Lindsay sank a 3-pointer with 31 seconds remaining in the second half to force overtime. Then, in the first OT, Richmond was trailing 71-68 when Anthony drove for a layup and drew the contact with 47 seconds remaining in the stanza. He hit the free throw to tie the game.

Richmond led the entire second overtime.

Lindsay had missed the two previous games due to a concussion sustained in Richmond's road loss at Minnesota.
