Pitt lineman rumbles 24 yards for TD catch (Video)

Pittsburgh’s Bryan O’Neill got to realize every offensive lineman’s dream on Saturday.

The Panthers’ starting tackle lined up as an eligible receiver and snuck out to the side after initially blocking a Georgia Tech defender. Pitt quarterback Nathan Peterman rolled right and passed it back to O’Neill, who rumbled 24 yards for a score.

O’Neill, a redshirt sophomore who is listed at 6-foot-6 and 300 pounds, showed that linemen are great athletes too. He followed his blockers and stayed tight to the sideline en route to the end zone.

He was pumped:

O’Neill is probably more used to having the ball in his hands than the average lineman. He was recruited as a tight end before adding weight and moving to the line before the 2015 season. The move has paid off. He started 12 games — one at left tackle and 11 at right tackle – last year and has remained on the top unit this season.

His touchdown catch came on Pitt’s first drive of the game and gave the Panthers a 7-0 lead over the Yellow Jackets.
