Paul Daley and Eduardo Dantas Pulled from Bellator 79 Fight Card

Paul Daley Pulled, Friday Night's Bellator 163 Bout Canceled

The Bellator 79 fight card suffered a couple casualties this week with the loss of main card fighters Paul Daley and bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas.

Bellator 79 takes place on Nov. 2 at Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario, Canada, and airs live on MTV2.

Daley, who was slated to face Kyle Baker, was removed from the fight card when he ran into visa issues that hampered travel plans from England to Canada. With time running short to rectify the situation, the decision was made to remove the Brit from the event, according to Bellator officials.

Baker will now instead face Canadian standout Ryan Ford.

Dantas was removed from the Bellator 79 fight card due to concerns about his health. He fought on a charity event in his home country of Brazil a couple months ago and was knocked out by Tyson Nam. Dantas suffered a concussion, so they decided to err on the side of safety for Bellator’s 135-pound champion.

Dantas was scheduled to defend his belt against Season 6 Bantamweight Tournament winner Marcos Galvao. The two will still square off for Dantas’ belt, but Bellator officials told MMAWeekly.com that it will now happen sometime in early 2013, once they’re sure that Dantas is recovered from the concussion.

The revamped Bellator 79 main card now looks like this:

-Thiago Santos vs. Richard Hale
-Mike Richman vs. Shahbulat Shamhalaev
-Douglas Lima vs. Jacob Ortiz
-Ryan Ford vs. Kyle Baker
