Pep Guardiola on Liverpool setback

I always said we have a lot of games to win to be champions. We are now going to try again in the next game against Newcastle.

I’ve won a lot of leagues and titles and you always drop points and lose games. It’s normal and you have to live with it. You have to realise how hard it is to do what we have done so far.

You have to fight for everything, win the league, qualify for the Champions League or qualify for the Europa League and teams who want to stay in the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola on Alexis Sanchez

I am not the guy with the numbers, what I know right now is that Alexis is an Arsenal player and I think he’ll go to United so congratulations to both of them and good luck.

My opinion of Alexis remains the same, I wish him all the best.

Rafa Benitez on January transfers

We won't sell unless we can replace with better players," Benitez added. "And in January you need a lot of money to convince players to come here.

And we're not planning to sell anyone who we consider can make a difference to the team. We have had some people asking but nothing serious and no offers on any of our players.

But if somebody wants to buy, we'll see if the price is good for us and for the player. But if they talk about loans we are not interested because we need them.

I'm still confident we will do what we have to do but I have to just concentrate on the games.

We are talking with agents but cannot push too much. We will try to do our best until the last day and believe we will do what we have to do.

What are the betting odds?

Man City 1/8

Newcastle 25/1

Draw 10/1

Prediction by Luke Edwards

You have to feel a little sorry for Newcastle, who will travel in some trepidation to Manchester to face a City side looking to react decisively to their first Premier League defeat of the season at Liverpool last weekend.

The Magpies, though, frustrated City in their game at St James' Park last month and will look to do the same. It is unlikely to work.

Prediction: Man City 3-0 Newcastle
