Lions claim D'Anthony Smith off waivers, cut Justin Bannan

The Seattle Seahawks traded an undisclosed future draft choice to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for defensive tackle D’Anthony Smith prior to the start of the regular season.

Now, he's with the Detroit Lions after being claimed off waivers from the Seahawks. They cut defensive tackel Justin Bannan to create a roster spot for Smith.

Smith was originally drafted in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Jaguars out of Louisiana Tech.

After spending both the 2010 and 2011 seasons on injured reserve, Smith saw his first action in 2012, playing in eight games and recording 10 tackles (six solo) before being placed on injured reserve with a head injury.
