Iowa Western Community College offensive lineman and Hampton (Iowa) native Josh Knipfel has committed to Iowa State.

The 6-foot-7, 320-pound Knipfel, who played one season with the IWCC Reivers in Council Bluffs, will be eligible to transfer right away to ISU and join the Cyclone program for 2017. He was a full qualifier out of Hampton-Dumont High School as a 2016 prospect.

After receiving no Division I FBS scholarship offers coming out of high school, Knipfel was a much hotter commodity this time around after proving himself last fall at Iowa Western. In addition to Iowa State, Knipfel also claimed offers from Michigan State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Memphis.

Knipfel will have four years to play three seasons for I-State, meaning he does have a redshirt year available to use. He is projected to play tackle for the Cyclones.
