Gleison Tibau Out of UFC Fight Night 38, Mairbek Taisumov Now Faces Michel Prazeres

An injury has forced lightweight Gleison Tibau off the UFC Fight Night 38 fight card, UFC officials announced on Wednesday.

Tibau (28-10) was expected to face Mairbek Taisumov on the March 23 event in Natal, Brazil. Taisumov (21-4) will now face Michel Prazeres.

Taisumov made his UFC debut in January, defeating Tae Hyun Bang by unanimous decision. He is currently riding a four-fight winning streak.

Prazeres (17-1) made his UFC debut in May of 2013 losing to Paulo Thiago by unanimous decision. It was the first loss in his 14-year mixed martial arts career. The 30-year-old Brazilian bounced back with a split decision win over Jesse Ronson in his last outing.

UFC Fight Night 38 takes place at the Ginasio Nelio Dias in Natal, Brazil, on March 23. The event is headlined by a match-up of legends as former two-division PRIDE champion Dan Henderson rematches former light heavyweight titleholder Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. The two first fought at UFC 139 in November of 2011. The fight became an instant classic and was the 2011 Fight of the Year.
