George Mason 71, Old Dominion 46

FAIRFAX, Va. -- Freshman guard Patrick Holloway turned in one of the finest performances of his college career Thursday night, leading George Mason to a 71-46 victory over Old Dominion in a Colonial Athletic Association game at the Patriot Center.

Holloway came off the bench to score 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field and add three assists, leading a collection of reserves who combined to make 25 of 35 shots from the floor for the Patriots (9-6, 2-1 CAA). Junior forward Paris Bennett, another reserve, scored 13 points on 6-of-6 shooting.

Senior forward Nick Wright scored 14 points and freshman guard Keenan Palmore added 13 for the Monarchs (2-14, 0-4), who have lost four in a row and 13 of 14.

Old Dominion trailed 14-10 midway through the first half, but George Mason mounted a 9-1 run to create some separation. Holloway punctuated the run with a 3-pointer, giving George Mason a 23-11 lead with 5:29 remaining in the half.

The Patriots led 30-22 at the break. Old Dominion cut the deficit to six early in the second half, but the Patriots outscored the Monarchs 15-2 in the next six minutes to take a commanding 45-26 lead with 12:08 to play.
