Eagles LT Peters to return after missing year with injury
Eagles left tackle Jason Peters will return to action Saturday for the first time in more than a year.
Peters, a five-time Pro Bowl selection, missed last year with a ruptured right Achilles tendon and the first two preseason games this season with a sore hamstring. The Associated Press is reporting that Peters is expected to play three quarters on Saturday against Jacksonville.
Peters was widely considered one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL before his injury. He spent his first five seasons with Buffalo before joining the Eagles in 2009.
Peters' primary concern is conditioning. He wants to get into game shape before the Sept. 9 opener at Washington.
The Eagles desperately need Peters. They allowed 48 sacks last season while they stumbled to a 4-12 record.
Peters was awarded nearly $2 million in July in a lawsuit over a rolling walker which he says broke and caused him to reinjure his torn Achilles tendon. The lawsuit said Peters was using a Roll-A-Bout knee walker in March 2012 when it broke below the handlebar, three weeks after his initial surgery.
