Celtics' Milicic due to get shot in sore right wrist

Boston Celtics center Darko Milicic was expected to get a cortisone shot in his ailing right wrist, according to multiple media reports.

Milicic, who joined the Celtics in the offseason, missed Boston's home exhibition game Tuesday against the Nets, and he likely will sit out the teams' rematch Thursday in Brooklyn.

According to the Boston Herald, coach Doc Rivers said the injury isn't considered serious.

Milicic left the Minnesota Timberwolves in July through the amnesty clause. He had two seasons left on a four-year, $20 million contract signed in 2010. For his career, Milicic has averaged 6.0 points and 4.2 rebounds over 467 games.

The Celtics also made two roster moves Tuesday, cutting guards Jamar Smith and Dionte Christmas.

"Two good kids. Both played hard," Rivers said. "It just really came down to numbers."

Smith, 25, averaged 2.3 points in exhibition play this fall, while Christmas, 26, averaged 3.3 points, both playing fewer than 14 minutes per game.
