Blind long snapper Jake Olson wants in on USC's QB competition (Video)
Jake Olson is a man of many talents.
Olson is blind, but that hasn’t stopped him from long snapping for USC. He’s also a really good golfer. Like really, really good.

But for the Trojans, he wants to do more than just snap. Olson threw his name into the impending USC quarterback competition with this tweet:

Olson was obviously kidding, but it’s really impressive how well he delivered some of those passes — the deep balls, especially. His guide dog, Quebec, deserves a shoutout for providing a ferocious pass rush, too.
Olson’s story has been well-documented, but it’s worth repeating. Olson lost the sight in both of his eyes — one at age 10, the other at age 12 — because he was born with retinoblastoma, a rare cancer of the retina. When his right eye was removed in 2009, then-USC coach Pete Carroll invited Olson to meet the team. From there, he and his family developed a relationship with the program that culminated in Olson joining the team.
Olson, who snapped in high school, was granted a waiver to practice with the team in fall 2015. He participated in the 2016 spring game and snapped in two games in 2017 against Western Michigan and Oregon State.

But it won’t be Olson replacing Sam Darnold as USC’s starting quarterback. Matt Fink, Jack Spears and incoming freshman J.T. Daniels will battle it out.
