Billy Ray Cyrus hurries out Stanley Cup anthem for Predators, and it shows
Nashville is Music City, so it’s only appropriate that the Predators have a country anthem to go along with their first Stanley Cup Final appearance nearly two decades into their history.
Yet with all that time to prepare for the occasion, Billy Ray Cyrus waited until the Predators fell 0-2 in the Stanley Cup Final to hit the studio to produce “Bring the Stanley Cup to Tennessee,” which Rolling Stone notes “was written and recorded in one day.”

We often hear artists talk about an effortless process, and how they arrived at such an incredible sound in no time at all. While the quick turnaround might apply in this instance, Cyrus’s ode to the local hockey team doesn’t seem to be the sort of track destined for lead rotation at the Honky Tonks.
Though it does check off most of the boxes associated with a country hit, with its relentless chorus, uncomplicated riff and mandatory reference to beer.
