Baltimore Ravens Draft Blitz: Sixth Round

The Ravens have so many needs that they can not cover them in just five rounds. Luckily Baltimore has plenty of picks and will likely trade down for more. This piece is the sixth and final installment of the Baltimore Ravens Draft Blitz series where we analyze round by round who Baltimore could and should take.

In the first round we said the Ravens should draft offensive lineman Forrest Lamp.

In the second round we said the Ravens should draft wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster.

In the third round we said the Ravens should draft Ryan Anderson and Sydney Jones.

In the fourth round we said the Ravens should draft Dawuane Smoot.

In the fifth round we said the Ravens should draft Corn Elder.

Ravens Team Needs

The Ravens still have needs left over from the previous five rounds. Though the Lamp pick helps bolster the offensive line, the team could still use a replacement right tackle. Drafting the physical receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster added an offensive weapon outside for Joe Flacco to throw to. A running back would be a wise addition considering the question marks in the back rotation.

Defensively, Baltimore got their playmaker in the secondary with Sidney Jones, and insurance for him with Corn Elder. They got their heir to Terrell Suggs, the main edge rusher, with Ryan Anderson. Baltimore added Dawuane Smoot as our fourth round pick to bolster their week pass rush. Also, after Zach Orr’s retirement, a hole has presumably opened up for one lucky draft pick next to C.J. Mosley at inside linebacker.

Player Fits

Matt Milano out of Boston College projects into Baltimore’s system well. A 3-4 WILB Milano is a bit undersized for a linebacker but makes up for it with toughness and aggressiveness. Milano was a productive college player displaying good instincts and a nose for the ball in tape. Milano should make an early contribution on special teams until he works himself into a starting role.

Pitt’s Ejuan Price projects as a defensive end. A strong and twitchy end, Price garnered plenty of recognition during his college days recieving a first team All-ACC nod this fall among other awards. Price has long been lauded for his rushing abilities.

Best Pick

Baltimore’s best pick in the sixth round will be Matt Milano. Milano will help bolster the linebacker rotation and may even get a shot to start as an inside linebacker. Until then expect Milano to make an impact on special teams.
