Nets vs. Knicks: Our betting breakdown for this divisional showdown on Tuesday evening

The Nets (17-25, 4th in Atlantic) host the Knicks (26-17, 3rd in Atlantic) for the second and final time at the Barclays Center in the regular season at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday night.

Brooklyn is looking to bounce back anyway possible after it suffered one of the worst blown leads in the NBA in recent memory.

Up 114-103 against the Clippers on Sunday evening, the Nets would go on to allow Los Angeles to score 22 unanswered points and not score a single point in nearly the last six minutes of action, resulting in a 125-114 loss in L.A.

Meanwhile, since the Knicks decided to make the massive move of trading R.J. Barrett and Immanuel Quickley, the team has won nine of their last 11 games, vaulting up to the fifth spot in the Eastern Conference.

In the first meeting this season, New York won with ease in a 121-102 victory at the Barclays Center on Dec. 20.

Here’s our betting analysis on the spread, total and moneyline for this Atlantic Division matchup tonight.

More: Our best bets against the spread for AFC, NFC Championship games on Sunday

NY Knicks vs. Nets spread: Knicks -3 (-110), Nets +4 (-110)

It’s a bit surprising here that the Knicks are only three-point road favorites. During this aforementioned stretch, they’ve won all nine of those contests by at least four points.

New York is 7-3 against the spread (ATS) over its last 10 contests, while the Nets have failed to cover eight of their prior 10 matchups.

Furthermore, the Knicks have covered the spread in each of the past three head-to-head meetings and are 7-3 against the spread as a road favorite this year.

Even though Brooklyn is one of the best ATS teams at home so far this season (12-6-2), the organization is only 4-4-2 against the spread as a home underdog and have failed to close out recent games decided by five points or fewer.

Unless there’s some type of last minute injury on the Knicks side, I’d ride the hot hand and bet on New York to win by at least four points in this one.

Wager on the Knicks to cover the three-point spread now on DraftKings Sportsbook, as all other sportsbooks have shifted this line to New York as a four-point road favorite.

Prediction: Knicks -3

NY Knicks vs. Nets total: Over 224.5 (-110), Under 225.5 (-110)

During the 2023 calendar year, all four of these divisional contests featured a total of 223 or higher, including a 160-point outburst last March.

We won’t be in store for nearly that many points at the Barclays Center later this evening and I  would even wager on the under this one.

During this hot stretch, the Knicks have gone below this total in eight of their last 11 matchups and in four of their last five games.

This is in large part thanks to a tremendous defense that gives up the third fewest points per game in the league, currently at 110.6 per contest.

On the other side, Brooklyn has scored 110 points or fewer in six of their previous 10 games.

Of the five-game slate in the Association on Tuesday night, this total is the lowest by far as I expect we see 225 or fewer points scored between the Nets and Knicks.

FanDuel Sportsbook is currently the only sportsbook in New Jersey that has the line at 225.5 points with a price of -110 (Bet $110 to win $100).

Prediction: Under 225.5 points (-110)

NY Knicks vs. Nets moneyline: Knicks (-148), Nets (+145)

This is a matchup that features two teams going in completely opposite directions.

New York has picked it up tremendously since its 17-15 start while Brooklyn, once .500 with a 15-15 record, finds themselves on the outside looking in for a Play-in tournament spot with the calendar inching closer to the All-Star Break next month.

Factor in that the Knicks are also a staggering 19-1 this season versus teams with a losing record, I don’t believe this Nets team can keep up with a Knicks squad that’s playing arguably their best basketball of the season.

Just as it was a month ago, this will be another double-digit victory for New York as it stays hot with a win against a struggling Brooklyn organization just trying to stay afloat in the bottom half of the Eastern Conference.

While most sportsbooks have the Knicks at -170 (Bet $170 to net $100) on the moneyline, DraftKings currently has the lowest price to bet by far for New York on the moneyline at -148 (Bet $148 to win $100) on Tuesday evening.

Prediction: Knicks 118, Nets 105
