NBA Twitter reacts to OG Anunoby-RJ Barrett trade: ‘Giving up IQ and RJ for OG is a literal robbery’
According to multiple reports, the New York Knicks are trading RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and one second-round pick to the Toronto Raptors for OG Anunoby, Malachi Flynn and Precious Achiuwa.
The Knicks had been pursuing Anunoby for a long time, and they now landed him in a trade.

This trade makes a lot of sense to me. For the time being, things will be messy. But adding a 23- and 24-year-old under club control to play next to Barnes makes a lot of sense. Quickley, in particular, is the type of guard who makes perfect sense long term with Barnes.

Knicks didn’t want to pay Quickley this summer, so they traded him + RJ for an expiring Anunoby who will be even MORE expensive this summer. They must really, really, really like OG.

Ultimately it comes down to whether the Raptors thought they could re-sign Anunoby and/or felt he was worth what could end up being a max (or near max) deal. If the answer to either of those questions was no, this was the right move. Couldn't risk losing him for nothing.
