Report: Michael Porter Jr. will miss multiple games due to COVID-19 protocols

Michael Porter Jr. will miss the Denver Nuggets’ New Year’s Day game due to contact tracing protocols, according to multiple reports on Friday, and could miss a handful more.

Porter is reportedly out against the Phoenix Suns and could miss a “number” of days due to the league’s COVID-19 rules. He is expected to miss multiple games after beginning his week-long quarantine on Thursday, per the Denver Post.

The Nuggets play the Minnesota Timberwolves on the road Sunday and at home on Tuesday. On Thursday they host the Dallas Mavericks.

Porter, 22, is averaging 19.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in his four starts this season. He’s shooting 42.3 percent from the 3-point line. He took over the starting job at small forward at the start of the season. Veteran Will Barton will likely start in his place, per the report.
