NBA fines Brooklyn Nets $100K for violating Player Participation Policy
The Brooklyn Nets are in quite of a funk right now as they can’t seem to do anything right on either end of the floor recently. To make things worse at a tough time for the franchise, the Nets are now being punished for another questionable decision that the franchise recently made.
On Thursday, the NBA announced that they were fining Brooklyn $100,000 for violating the league’s Player Participation Policy in their home game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Dec. 27. leading up to the game, the Nets did not play Nic Claxton, Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Cam Johnson while playing Mikal Bridges, Cam Thomas, and Royce O’Neale in just the first quarter.
To make matters worse, Brooklyn was already missing Ben Simmons and Lonnie Walker IV due to their respective injuries. After the game, Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn said that he had too much respect for the players in the NBA to say that he treated that game like an “exhibition.”
Leading up to the game, Vaughn mentioned that several guys had nagging injuries that he felt that they could use some rest to get over while also allowing some of the other players on the team to get some extended minutes. Where the Nets drew the ire of the fans was the fact that the game was winnable heading into the fourth quarter.
