NBA fans lost it over Warriors trading Jordan Poole for Chris Paul

Just a few hours before the 2023 NBA Draft, new Golden State Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy made his first big move to reshape Golden State’s roster.

As reported by Shams Charania and Adrian Wojnarowski, the Warriors will send Jordan Poole and draft compensation to the Washington Wizards in exchange for future Hall of Famer Chris Paul, who is entering his 19th NBA season at age 38. Paul was traded on Sunday to the Wizards in a blockbuster deal that brought Bradley Beal to Phoenix.

According to Charania, the Wizards will receive a first-round pick in 2030, and a 2027 second-rounder from the Warriors in addition to Poole. The move occurred just days after Dunleavy told reporters that the organization planned to keep Poole for “four more years, at least.”

Shortly after Poole was involved in a practice altercation with Draymond Green, the Warriors gave Poole with a massive four-year contract extension worth $123 million. Poole posted a career-high in scoring during the 2022-23 year, but was heavily criticized for his play in the postseason.

Here’s what NBA fans are saying about the trade:
