NAU offense struggles in home loss to Montana

For one quarter, Northern Arizona football held Big Sky power Montana to a stalemate at Walkup Skydome in Flagstaff.

NAU's defense, which has struggled this season surrendering more than 30 points a game, forced three punts and entered the second quarter in a scoreless tie with the Grizzlies.

Less than two minutes later, the floodgates opened for Montana and the Lumberjacks couldn't recover, falling 30-3 on Senior Day.

Montana rolled up 427 yards on the 'Jacks, including 280 from quarterback Cam Humphrey.

NAU, playing without breakout freshman quarterback R.J. Martinez, struggled all day, collecting only 154 yards in offense. Snaps were plat between Niko Haen and Cale Millen, finishing a collecting 14-32 for 99 yards and three interceptions.

Kevin Daniels had 42 yards on 16 carries in the loss.

NAU (4-6) closes out their season 6 p.m. Saturday at Cal Poly.
