NationalchampionUConn men's basketball team to be honored by Red Sox, Yankees later this month

Jul. 5—The details of who will throw the first pitch at Fenway are still being determined, according to UConn. But CT Insider has reported that Donovan Clingan and Alex Caraban are expected to do the honors.

Both are New England natives: Karaban is from Massachusetts while Clingan grew up in Bristol.

Only Hurley and the coaching staff will be at Yankee Stadium for the Sunday game on July 23. Hurley grew up as a Royals fan in New Jersey after Hall of Famer George Brett stormed the field in the 1983 Pine Tar game at Yankee Stadium, so it's an appropriate visitor for the event.

The three most prolific former UConn players on the Huskies' championship roster (Jordan Hawkins, Andre Jackson Jr. and the Final Four's MOP Adama Sanogo) would be the obvious choices to be part of baseball ceremonies, but they have already joined NBA teams and are playing in the Summer League.

Jackson, who grew up in Upstate New York, got his moment when he threw out the first pitch before the Mets beat the Atlanta Braves on May 1 at Citi Field.

Hurley said it was a "once-in-a-lifetime experience" for Jackson, but he'll get his own opportunity on one of the most iconic mounds in all of baseball.
