National Signing Day 2024 coverage in Brevard County

Brevard County high school senior athletes announced college decisions Wednesday as part of National Signing Day across the country, with 27 being celebrated around the area.

Most were football players, including 11 at Heritage, where five signed with the same school: University of Northwestern in St. Paul, Minn., which competes in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.

The first signing celebration came at Holy Trinity. Michael Howkins of the Tigers lacrosse team signed with Montevallo in Alabama.

National Signing Day is held the first Wednesday of every February and is one of four NCAA signing periods each year, though high schools typically recognize athletes headed for non-NCAA schools, too.

In addition to two football players who signed at Eau Gallie, the school celebrated its largest group of girls signing in the February period as four headed across the country: bowler Jennifer Chrarillo to Cumberland, Tenn.; Juliya Davidson to Rockford, Ill., for basketball; and softball players Sarah Langlie to Barry University as well as Heather Rue to Seminole State, both in Florida.

Three Rockledge High football players were among those signing Wednesday. D'Mari Jenkins signed with prominent Ferris State, a Michigan school that won NCAA Division II national championships in 2021 and '22.
