Narrows explodes in third quarter en route to blasting Parry McCluer 56-21

Oct. 10—NARROWS, Va. — The Narrows High School football team killed two birds with one stone, on Friday night.

The Green Wave cleared one hurdle between themselves and another Pioneer District football championship while strengthening their position in the Region 1C rankings, defeating district rival Parry McCluer 56-21.

After trailing 14-13 at intermission, Narrows exploded for 37 points in the third quarter to put Buena Vista in the rear-view mirror.

Kolier Pruett had another banner outing for the Green Wave (5-1), rushing for 171 yards on 14 carries, including touchdown runs of 65, 59 and 10 yards.

Pruett added a 2-point conversion run after Cooper Helvey's explosive 67-yard scoring run. Pruett also had a 55-yard kickoff return for a score and completed 3-of-11 passing attempts for 55 yards.

Helvey, who finished with 126 yards on 12 rushes, also scored on runs of 9 and 10 yards.

Fighting Blues quarterback Nathan Glass had a 6-yard touchdown pass to Parker Camden and scored on a 1-yard touchdown keeper.

Jackson Brockenbrough led Parry McCluer with 78 yards on 24 carries. He also had a 2-point conversion run.

The Green Wave will return to action on Friday, taking on Honaker at Harry Ragsdale Field.
