Mystik Dan, the Kentucky Derby winner that had early training near Ocala, will run in Preakness

USA TODAY is reporting that Mystik Dan, the Kentucky Derby winner that received early training at Silverleaf Hills Training Center in Summerfield, will run in the Preakness Stakes on May 18.

Mystik Dan won the Kentucky Derby by a nose on May 4. The Preakness announcement was made on May 11.

The Preakness is the second leg of horse racing's Triple Crown. The third is the Belmont Stakes. The last Triple Crown winner was Justify in 2018.

Silverleaf is at 15920 U.S. 301 in Summerfield. It is the former Padua Farm Training Center. Ken McPeek bought it in 2019, according to the center's website.
