Muskego defeats Oak Creek in top 10 high school football matchup, Catholic Memorial suffers blowout loss at home

Two of our top 10 area teams squared off in a nonconference battle, and losses toward the latter half of our rankings could see new teams take their place on Monday. Here is a look at our area top 10's games in Week 2.

1. Kettle Moraine (2-0)

Our new No. 1 team this week blew out Ashwaubenon 42-7 on the road Thursday night. Next: at Arrowhead, Friday

2. Arrowhead (2-0)

Three total touchdowns for quarterback Vance Holtz led Arrowhead to a 21-3 win over Homestead at home. Next: vs. Kettle Moraine, Friday.

3. Mukwonago (2-0)

The rematch of a competitive 55-45 affair in 2022 was anything but a nail-biter this time around, as Mukwonago defeated Sun Prairie East, 41-13, at home. Next: vs. Waukesha North, Friday.

4. Franklin (2-0)

Franklin built on a strong road win to open their season with a 45-6 victory in their home opener over Fond du Lac. Next: vs. Racine Case, Friday.

5. Muskego (2-0)

A 48-yard Ashton Krause run late in the fourth quarter helped the Warriors hang on for a 15-8 win over Oak Creek at home. Next: vs. Waukesha West, Friday.

6. Sussex Hamilton (2-0)

Sussex Hamilton edged past Oconomowoc in a 35-34 win at home. Next: at West Allis Hale, Friday.

7. Catholic Memorial (0-2)

The Crusaders were shut out 35-0 at home at the hands of Marquette. Next: vs. Milwaukee Lutheran, Thursday.

8. Oak Creek (1-1)

The Knights had an 8-7 lead late against Muskego, but ultimately fell 15-8 on the road. Next: at Kenosha Bradford, Friday.

9. Brookfield Central (2-0)

Brookfield Central won a closely-contested 9-8 affair over Pewaukee on Thursday night at home, buoyed offensively in the second half by a touchdown run from backup quarterback Mason Medved. Next: vs. West Allis Central, Friday.

10. New Berlin West (1-1)

The Vikings lost a 49-38 shootout on the road at Menomonee Falls. Next: vs. Pius XI Catholic, Thursday.
