Here’s how much the Penguins are worth compared to other NHL teams

When it comes to valuation, the Pittsburgh Penguins are right in the middle of the NHL pack.

Exactly in the middle, according to Sportico’s annual NHL Valuation Rankings, which came out Wednesday.

The Pens stand at No. 16 out of 32 teams, with an overall valuation of $900 million. Even though the franchise’s value went up 7% since last year, it still dropped a spot.

Recent championships won, apparently don’t factor in much when it comes to valuations, as the top spot in the NHL went to the Toronto Maple Leafs, who famously haven’t won a Stanley Cup since 1967. The Leafs’ total valuation was $2.12 billion.
