MSU gymnastics advances to Sunday's NCAA regional final

PITTSBURGH – Michigan State used a 196.825 team score in its second session Friday to advance to Sunday’s NCAA regional final in Pittsburgh.

Cal earned the top qualifying spot with a 197.250. Western Michigan finished third and West Virginia fourth.

The Spartans, the 10th overall seed and No. 3 seed in the regional, advance to their second straight regional final with Friday's runner-up finish. The top two teams from the other session on Friday — Florida and Arizona State — will join MSU and Cal in Sunday's final, beginning at 5 p.m. (streamed on ESPN-plus).

The top two teams from the regional final will advance to the NCAA Championships on April 13 and 15 in Fort Worth, Texas.
