MRI confirms torn right Achilles tendon for Kirk Cousins

The Minnesota Vikings confirmed everyone’s worst fears in reporting that an MRI revealed Kirk Cousins tore his right Achilles tendon. The team released the following statement on the situation

Kirk Cousins underwent an MRI this morning at Twin Cities Orthopedics that confirmed an Achilles tendon tear. The timeline and details of his upcoming surgery will be determined this week. The team will continue to provide updates.

This was the expected outcome for the Vikings and its still brutal nonetheless. The big question is how does the franchise move forward?

They could pursue a trade for a quarterback, but the likely path is going to be to roll with rookie Jaren Hall and veteran Nick Mullens. There isn’t a whole lot they can do right now to improve the position, as so much of playing quarterback is knowledge of the offense and being able to exploit defenses.

Head coach Kevin O’Connell and the team will be providing updates moving forward.
