Mount Union's Kenadee Wayt, Matt McBride win top OAC indoor track and field meet awards

Mount Union's Kenadee Wayt was named the outstanding sprinter of the women's meet at the Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Mount Union made it a title sweep at the Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Head coach Kevin Lucas' men's and women's teams earned first-place finishes in this year's meet at Muskingum. The men's team won its 12th straight OAC championship and 43rd overall. The women's team won its third straight conference title and 10th overall.

Kenadee Wayt was named most outstanding sprinter of the women's meet. She set an NCAA Division III national record in winning the 500 meters in 1:13.23. She also won the 60 in an OAC-record 7.52 seconds, the 200 in 24.85 and anchored the Purple Raiders' winning 800 relay.

Matt McBride was selected the most outstanding sprinter of the men's meet. He set an OAC record in winning the 500 in 1:03.35, the second-fastest NCAA Division III time ever.

Lucas and his coaching staff earned OAC Men's Staff of the Year honors.

WOMEN

800 relay: Kristen Walters, Monica Clark, Katie Campbell, Kenadee Wayt, 1:46.09

Shot put: Makayla Sitzlar, 43-0.25

1,600 relay: Elizabeth Funkhouser, Halle Cochran, Mary Mason, Maddy Miles, 3:56.86

Walsh's Kya Epps wins two G-MAC championships

Walsh's Kya Epps won two titles at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at Ashland.

Epps repeated as the women's 200 champion. Her time of 23.96 broke the G-MAC meet record of 24.20 she set last year.

Epps also won the 60 in 7.43.
