'Faces in the Crowd': Mount Union runner Kenadee Wayt recognized by Sports Illustrated

Kenadee Wayt is the first Mount Union female athlete who will be recognized nationally by Sports Illustrated in its Faces in the Crowd section.

A school record-tying three-time national champion in women's track and field, Wayt will appear in the August issue. She holds 10 school records, has won 16 Ohio Athletic Conference titles and is a 15-time All-American. At the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, she became the first Purple Raider to win multiple women's individual events.

For her unprecedented 2023 season, Wayt won the following awards:

  • United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association Division III National Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year

  • USTFCCCA Division III Women's Outdoor Track Scholar Athlete of the Year

  • NCAA Elite 90 Outdoor Track and Field winner

  • College Sports Communicators' Academic All-America Division III Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Runner of the Year

  • Mount Union's OAC Clyde Lamb Female Award recipient

Wayt joins AJ Digby, Dave Cooper, Derrick Rippy and Rick Hairston on the all-time Mount Union Sports Illustrated Faces in the Crowd list.

Mount Union men's basketball golf outing set

The Mount Union men's basketball program will host its third annual golf outing on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 8 a.m. at Mayfair Country Club in Green.

Individual registration is $100. Team foursomes are $400. A variety of sponsorship levels for the event have also been created,

Funds raised through the outing will be used to help grow the men's basketball team, which finished as NCAA Division III national runners-up in 2022-23.
