Morris holds off Charlotte Valley, Schenevus upsets Milford in quarterfinals

Feb. 26—The Morris boys basketball team took down Charlotte Valley 53-48 on the road in the quarterfinal round of the Section IV Class D tournament Saturday.

Tiger Ross led the way for the Mustangs with 31 points while Ryan Murphy added 11 points in the win.

Trevor Waid had 16 points while John Gonsalves and Ezra Ontl added 13 and 12 points, respectively, in the loss.

Fifth-seeded Morris improves to 15-5 and will play top-seeded South Kortright Wednesday in the semifinal round at SUNY Delhi.

Schenevus 62, Milford 61 (Saturday)

Seventh-seeded Schenevus upset second-seeded Milford 62-61 in the quarterfinal round of the Section IV Class D tournament Saturday in Milford.

The Dragons had four players score in double-figures with Lucuan Kortekaas leading the way with 18 points, Allen Osborne tallying 16 points and Jackson Reed and Ethan Reed adding 12 and 10 points, respectively, in the win.

Carter Stevens led Milford with 18 points while Braden Murphy had 16 points and Christian Lawson added 10 points in the loss.

Schenevus advances to take on third-seeded Edmeston in the semifinal round Wednesday at SUNY Delhi while Milford ends its season with a 15-4 record.

Delhi 71, Union Springs 55 (Saturday)

Delhi pulled away with a 22-9 fourth quarter to take down Union Springs 71-55 in the quarterfinal round of the Section IV Class C tournament at home Saturday.

Chuck Haight led the way with a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds while Angelo Krzyston had 18 points, Ivan Richardson netted 13 points and Rocco Schanbel also had a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds in the win.

Collin Park led the Wolves with 17 points while Aaron Johnson and Rocco Testa each added 15 in the loss.

Fourth-seeded Delhi improves to 17-4 and will take on top-seeded Candor at TC3 in Cortland in the semifinal round Wednesday.

Edmeston 65, Margaretville 33 (Saturday)

The Edmeston boys rolled to a 65-33 victory over Margaretville in Saturday's Class D Quarterfinal game.

Izek Richards hit five three-pointers to lead the Panthers with 17 points. Preston Graham added 12 points while Braymon Clark and Gavin McEnroe each scored 10.

Hunter Balcom led the Blue Devils with 13 points and Connor Wayman scored nine.

Edmeston (16-4) will face Schenevus at SUNY Delhi Wednesday. Margaretville ends the year with a record of 12-8.

South Kortright took down Cherry Valley-Springfield 61-45 at home in Saturday's Class D Quarterfinal game.

Connor Quarino poured in 38 points in the win for the Rams. Boston Quarino added six points of his own.

For CV-S, Max Horvath led the way with 11 points while Kris Cade and Dalton Stocking scored eight points apiece.

South Kortright (18-2) will face Morris in Wednesday's semifinal game at SUNY Delhi. CV-S ends the season with a record of 11-9.
