How Montgomery-area teams performed at AHSAA Track and Field State Championship finals

Heres a list of Montgomery-area high schools’ top performers at the AHSAA Track and Field State Championships, held May 4-6. Competition for 1A-3A titles was held in Cullman and 4A-7A was in Gulf Shores.

Auburn 7A

Maxwell Hardin won the Class 7A boys 3,200 meters and clocked 9:11.55 to set a new 7A state meet record. He also placed second in the 1600m with a time of 4:07.44.

Patrick Sweeney won the Class 4A boys’ discus with a heave of 64 feet, 7 inches. He also placed first in the the 100m with a time of 14.63 and first in shot put.

Tj Autrey placed first in boys high jump.

Mary Jack Gordon placed placed first in girls javelin throw.

Abby Merner placed second in both the 1600m and 3200m.

Boys 4x800 Meter Relay placed second with a time of 7:48.65.

Montgomery Academy 4A

Grant Casey won the 3200-meter 4A state championship with a time of 9.35. Casey also placed second in the 1600 meter with a time of 4:21.67

Elle Ingram placed fourth in the girls 1600m with a time of 5:28.80.

Isabella Johnson won the 4A state championship in shot put.

Skylar Stoval placed second in boys high jump.

Eli Jernigan placed fifth in boys 400m with a time of 51.67.

Trinity Presbyterian 3A

Mathew Blake placed first in 400m with a time of 50.93.

Francie Morris placed third in javelin throw.

Boys’ 4x800 relay team placed first with a time of 8:26.61.

Saint James 3A

Connor Owens won the 1A-3A state championship in discus.

Marley Beard placed first in girls 200m, second in 100m and second in long jump.

Wetumpka 6A

Grant Weighall placed fourth in boys javelin throw.

James Ball finished fourth in boys triple jump.
