Monday-Tuesday roundup: Meadowbrook, Coshocton volleyball advance

Here are Monday's and Tuesday's high school tournament results from around the Muskingum Valley.

Volleyball

Division III

Meadowbrook 25, 25, 25, West Muskingum 13, 7, 17: The top seeded Colts swept the Tornadoes to reach the sectional finals on Thursday.

Senior Taylor Sichina paced the Meadowbrook with 11 points, six kills, three blocks and two digs, while freshman Natalee Norman added nine points, seven kills, and a pair of blocks. Senior Karly Launder finished with eight points, six kills and a game high 24 digs.

Sophomore Addy Sichina collected five points, with 15 assists and three kills, with senior Avery Black chipping in 16 digs and two points.

Meadowbrook improved to 18-5 and will host St. Clairsville in the Division III sectional title game at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Coshocton 25, 25, 23, 25, Bellaire 19, 20, 25, 14: The 10th-seeded Lady Redskins (11-12) downed ninth seed Bellaire and advanced to face second seed Union Local for a sectional title on Thursday.

Leading the 'Skins and filling up the stat sheet was Lacey Guthrie, who pounded 15 kills to go along with her 18 assists and 12 digs, and Kenidi Jackson also had a big night pounding 11 kills to go along with her 14 digs and two blocks.

Lilah Laaper had 17 assists and Jaeli Tiedt dug up 14 Big Red attacks to share the top spot in that category, while Sophia McFadden was a force at the net as she garnered four blocks to lead the 'Skins and also contributed seven kills.

St. Clairsville 21, 25, 25, 8, 15, Ridgewood 25, 21, 21, 25, 13: Kya Masloski totaled 26 digs, six kills, two blocks and eight points, and Skylar Wright added 13 kills, 22 digs, nine aces, and eight points for the 14th-seeded Generals, who fell to the 13th-seeded Red Devils.

Megan Mainwaring hit a team-high 18 kills, Brynn Waters had 20 assists, four aces and five points, Sidney Hains tallied 17 assists, 10 digs, two aces and four points, Kaylee Belt had 13 points with seven digs and four aces and Kaydence Lahna made 14 digs for Ridgewood.

West Union 19, 25, 25, 25, Crooksville 25, 21, 18, 19: The Ceramics had their season come to an end with a sectional loss.

Boys Soccer

Division III

Coshocton 8, Shenandoah 0: The seventh-seeded Redskins (8-8-1) rolled to victory and will head to second seed Tusky Valley at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in a sectional final.

Thomas Inglima started off the scoring with an assist from Justin Shearn, while Shearn got a goal from his own corner kick and Aiden Braxton made it 3-0 with a goal, assisted by Adrian Barreda.

Barreda added a goal on an assist from Gavin Albertson, Owen Walters converted a penalty kick, Albertson also scored and Braxton kicked in his second to make it 7-0 at the half.

Philip Csehi added a goal in the second half, and Kabe Bylaw and Jared Collins combined for the shutout.

West Muskingum 3, Harrison Central 0: Jacob Agin scored two goals in the final 12:12 of the match to send the Tornadoes to the sectional final at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Steubenville Catholic Central.

He broke up the scoreless tie at the 12:12 mark of the second half and added another at the 4:38 mark, while Jaxson Prang capped the scoring with 25 seconds left.

Rosecrans 8, Sandy Valley 1: Grady Labishak knocked in four goals and assisted another, as the fourth-seeded Bishops advanced to host sixth seed Caldwell at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Kohen Harris added two goals and Tizian Schmelzer also scored, while Schmelzer, Jack Jones, James Goggin and Steven Porter also had an assist each and Porter made three saves in goal.

Girls Soccer

Division II

Coshocton 3, Harrison Central 2: Isabelle Lauvray scored off a Lilly Braxton assist in the second half in what proved to be the game winner for the 13th seeded Lady 'Skins, who held a 27-4 edge in shots.

Mia Lauvray scored the team's first goal thanks to an assist by Braxton, while Isabelle Lauvray found Ashley Bryant to make it 2-1 at the half.

Courtney Snyder added two saves, while Gabby Wesney played awesome defense and Lilly Braxton stepped up, noted coach Kimmie Underwood, who called it a 'total team win!'

Coshocton advanced to play at third seed Dover at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Philo 2, Maysville 0: Victoria Ligon and Nattalee Jarrett each scored to send the eighth-seeded Electrics past the 12th-seeded Panthers in the sectional final.

Keeper Scarlett Shanks and the defense of Emily Stockdale, Ellah Stoneburner, Sara Searls, Avery Mahon, Marley Harper and Hannah Foster helped in the shutout.

Philo will play top seed West Holmes in a district semifinal on Monday at a site to be determined.

Steubenville 9, Cambridge 1: The 11th seeded Big Red rolled past the Bobcats and will travel to second seed John Glenn for a sectional final at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Monday's results

Boys Soccer

Tri-Valley 6, Morgan 2: Yuvi Bastola scored three times and assisted on two other goals for the Scotties (12-4-1) in a DIvision II sectional opener at Kenny Wolford Park.

Tri-Valley led 2-0 at halftime, then outscored the Raiders, 4-2, in the second half. Lewis Mozena, Sam Schott and Ty Young also scored for Tri-Valley. Owen Harney made nine saves.

Braylon Miller scored both goals for Morgan (6-11), while Tavian Myers had an assist.

Zanesville 4, Maysville 2: Riley Needles scored three straight goals to start the match as the visiting Blue Devils (9-7-2) advanced in the Division II sectional.

Garrett McMillion also scored and Connor Baldwin and Cam Van Kirk had assists as Zanesville won or the seventh time in eight matches.

Zanesville will play Tri-Valley on Wednesday for a berth in the district.

Sheridan 4, Circleville 2: The 20th-seeded Generals (3-14-1) advanced in their Division II sectional opener with an upset over the 13th-seeded Tigers on the road.

Jim Swain scored twice with an assist and Nick Stirk and Kasen Miller also connected for the Generals, who advanced to play at Chillicothe Unioto on Wednesday.

Albany Alexander 7, New Lexington 0: The Panthers lost their Division II sectional opener on the road.

River View 11, Belmont Union Local 0: Parker Andrews had three goals and two assists and Camden Albertson also had thee goals to lead the Black Bears in a rout in a Division II sectional opener in Warsaw.

Cael Summers, Micah Hardesty, Gavin Bahmer and Brody Johnson also scored for River View, which scored all of its goals in the first half. There was no second half due to Ohio High School Athletic Association tournament rules.

River View (15-2) advanced to play 12th-seeded Minerva at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday for a district berth.

Steubenville 4, Philo 0: The Electrics (8-9-1) managed only one shot on goal as they lost their Division II sectional match on the road.

Cole Bowers scored twice and Hayden Hicks and Brady Dinovo scored one each for Big Red. Matt Loot had three assists.

Girls Soccer

Washington Court House 5, New Lexington 1: The visiting Panthers (0-17-1) were outscored 3-0 in the first half as they dropped their Division II sectional opener.

Rosecrans 10, Richmond Edison 0: Sydney Maxwell scored three times as the Bishops needed only one half to dispatch of the Warriors in a Division III sectional match at Mattingly Family Field.

Lillie Dosch scored twice and Abby Solt, Avery Maxwell, Mallory Moody, Cecelia Shonk and Jackie Connell also scored for the Bishops.

Rosecrans next hosts Berlin Hiland at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Hiland 4, Ridgewood 0: The Hawks knocked off the fifth-seeded Generals to advance.

Volleyball

Sheridan 25, 25, 25, Waverly 15, 11, 12: Nora Saffell and Jamisyn Stinson combined for 15 kills and the Generals had seven aces in a Division II sectional opening win at Glen Hursey Gymnasium.

Dylan Fox added 17 assists with three aces and 20-of-20 serving, Payton Powell chipped in 14 assists and two aces, Josie Ramey five kills with three blocks and Ava Heller seven kills and eight digs for Sheridan.

The Generals advanced host No. 9 seed Circleville Logan Elm at 7 p.m. on Wednesday for a berth in the district.

New Lexington 25, 25, 25, Athens 12, 2, 11: Gracie Newlon served 23 straight points in Set 2, as the host Panthers rolled to a straight-set win against the 11th-seeded Bulldogs in a Division II sectional opener.

Trinity Cook, Abby Wilson and Chloe Dick hit nine kills apiece, Newlon also had 11 digs and four aces, Jorja Burkhart set 26 assists and Dick also added four digs and two aces for New Lex (19-4), which advanced to play at No. 3 seed Circleville at 7 p.m. on Wednesday for a district berth.

Millersburg West Holmes 25, 25, 25, Philo 21, 23, 16: Aleigha Busse had seven kills, four blocks and 19 digs in a losing effort for the Electrics (7-16), who dropped their Division II sectional match.

Olivia Fink had three kills with eight digs and Adyson Khune 10 assists and seven digs for Philo.

Minerva 18, 25, 25, 25, Morgan 25, 23, 22, 22: Allia Rush pounded 17 kills and Blair Clawson 15, but the short-handed Raiders dropped their Division II sectional opener.

Chloe Baker had 44 assists and Ashtyn Filkins three aces, four kills with 25 digs for the Raiders; Myleigh Williams added five kills with four digs.

Morgan played without middle hitter Evelyn Newton, who was sick.

Cadiz Harrison Central 19, 25, 25, 25, Maysville 25, 17, 12, 20: Olivia McPeak's 17 kills, 26 assists and 17 digs weren't enough for the visiting Panthers (4-19), who bowed out of the Division II sectional tournament.

Ashtyn Merlo added six kills and Rachel Jarvis five for Maysville, while Haylee Cornett had four kills and seven digs.

Rosecrans 16, 25, 25, 25, Shadyside 25, 19, 18, 25: The 15th-seeded Bishops advanced in the Division IV sectional with a four-set win against the visiting Tigers.

Rosecrans (5-17) advanced to play top-seeded Shenandoah at 7 p.m. on Thursday for a district berth.
