Girls basketball highlights

JACKSON 47, LAKE 40 Led by Megan Campbell, Jackson handed Lake its first loss of the season, allowing the Polar Bears to move into first place in the Federal League. The Bears (5-1, 4-0) built a 16-point lead through three quarters and withstood a Lake rally in the fourth quarter. Campbell made 4 of 4 free throws in the final minute to seal the win. Campbell scored a game-high 20 points. Ashley Lahmers added eight points and Madison Lepley scored seven. Lake (6-1, 2-1) was led by Emma Anderson’s 17 points, while Paige Marshall scored nine.

GREEN 58 HOOVER 42 Jenna Slates scored 19 points to lead the Bulldogs to a Federal League win over Hoover. Sydney Shocklee added 13 points and Ava Kouri scored 10 for Green. Zoe McCort scored 13 points to lead Hoover (0-5, 0-4). 

CANTON SOUTH 43, MANCHESTER 38 Summer Hastings-Peterson scored 23 points to lead the Wildcats to a PAC win on the road.

Friday's boys basketball highlights

JACKSON 66, LAKE 45 Mitch Finefrock, Kyle Monterrubio and Cameron Weekley combined for 55 points as Jackson (3-2, 2-1) won at home in Federal League action. Finefrock hit five 3-pointers and scored 20 points. Monterrubio and Weekley added 18 and 17 points, respectively, for the Polar Bears, who outscored Lake 34-16 in the second half. Will Koehl led the Blue Streaks (0-4, 0-3) with 14 points.

CENTRAL CATHOLIC 54, PERRY 41 Luke Vlacovsky scored a game-high 19 points in leading the Crusaders to a win in the Battle for 13th Street rivalry.
