Readers sound off on MLB spring training ticket costs via email: 'We won't pay these prices'
One reader wrote that people should boycott spring training games over the prices: "Why would people pay to watch practice? Maybe if nobody showed up they would get the message."
One reader emailed: "Split squad games and high ticket prices keeps me away from spring training. Let the snowbirds pay those prices and contribute to our economy, Opening day will be here soon enough."
Another detailed his experience: "For what it’s worth I used to visit every ballpark at least once each spring. When the Dbacks and Rockies built Salt River I started going there by bicycle and picked up a general admission ticket for 8 to 10 bucks. I stopped going when the price of a beer and hotdog became about twice the price of admission. Haven’t been back since and really miss it."
Another vented their concerns: "They’re too expensive for an average family to attend. My husband and I are recently retired and while we could spring (play on words) we won’t pay these prices. … We would pay the regular seat ticket but we are firm on not paying for all the added fees. What gets us they charge $10 for a conveyance to email you the tickets! Cmon. That’s absurd. We wrote to the powers that be but of course our email goes I guess in the so called round email container ie trash."

My mother took me to my white Sox game in 1946, I've been a sox fan since.
I checked for ticket prices this year, $32.00 a seat to watch castoffs, AAA and AA players. Greed Rinesdorf.— warren weaver (@wweaver1942) February 29, 2024
Great story! Thanks for exposing how expensive it’s to attend Spring Training games now. Games are gettin’ too spendy! 💰 💰 We now skip all the concessions we used to buy.
