Mississippi State football adds Toledo to 2024 schedule, replacing Utah State

STARKVILLE — Mississippi State football will host Toledo in the 2024 season, MSU announced on Wednesday.

The matchup on Sept. 14 will replace MSU's originally scheduled game against Utah State. Other nonconference games for the Bulldogs include home games against Eastern Kentucky (Aug. 31) and UMass (Nov. 2) and a road trip to Arizona State (Sept. 7).

It will be the first meeting between MSU and Toledo.

Toledo comes from the Mid-American Conference. The Rockets are coached by Jason Candle who is in his eighth full season. Toledo hasn't had a losing season during his tenure, and the Rockets are off to a 2-1 start this season with their lone loss coming in the season opener at Illinois.

Mississippi State hosted a MAC school (Bowling Green) last year and will do the same on Oct. 7 against Western Michigan this year.
