Mississippi State football’s 2024 SEC schedule includes trips to Texas, Tennessee, Georgia
STARKVILLE — Mississippi State football will face Ole Miss, Texas, Georgia and Tennessee to highlight its 2024 opponents, which the SEC released Wednesday. Other foes include Texas A&M, Arkansas, Florida and Missouri.
That means notable opponents such as Alabama, LSU, Auburn and Kentucky won't be on next year's schedule.
As the drama of the SEC's scheduling format continues, clarity of the 2024 season was provided during spring meetings in Destin, Florida, earlier this month. The conference will be moving forward without divisions as Texas and Oklahoma join, and 2024 will feature an eight-game slate. The number of conference games beyond next year is still to be determined.
MSU's 2024 nonconference slate has long been determined. The Bulldogs will have three home games against Eastern Kentucky, Utah State and Massachusetts. Mississippi State will be on the road to take on Arizona State. If a nine-game schedule is implemented in 2025, one of those opponents will likely have to be removed.

Mississippi State football 2024 SEC schedule
Arkansas
After winning seven of eight matchups against Arkansas, Mississippi State is 1-2 since Sam Pittman took over as coach. This rivalry dates back to 1916 and has been played every year since 1992.
Florida
Mississippi State will take on Florida for the first time since 2018. That was Dan Mullen’s return to Starkville after leaving the Bulldogs for the Gators.
at Georgia
After going six years without facing Georgia (2011-17), Mississippi State will play UGA for the fourth time in eight seasons. Georgia has won 13 of the last 14 matchups dating back to 1975.
Missouri
For the first time since 2020 and just the fifth time ever, Mississippi State will take on Missouri.
at Ole Miss
The Egg Bowl is the lone surefire rivalry Mississippi State will maintain in any new schedule format. The matchup stems back to 1901 when MSU was Mississippi A&M, and it has remained one of college football’s top rivalries.
at Tennessee
For the first time since 2019 and second time since 2012, Mississippi State will take on Tennessee. The rivalry dates back to 1907.
at Texas
For the first time since the Cotton Bowl in 1999, Mississippi State is taking on Texas. The programs have split their four all-time meetings.
Texas A&M
The Aggies have struggled against the Bulldogs since joining the SEC. MSU is 9-7 all-time in the series (dating back to 1912) and 6-5 since A&M’s arrival in the conference (2012).
Mississippi State football 2024 nonconference opponents
EASTERN KENTUCKY
MSU is slated to host Eastern Kentucky on August 31. The programs have never faced off.
ARIZONA STATE
MSU begins a home-and-home with Arizona State on September 9. The return game in Starkville is slated for Sept. 6, 2025. The two programs have never met.

UTAH STATE
MSU faces Utah State for the first time in program history on September 14.
MASSACHUSETTS
Mississippi State faces UMass on November 2. MSU won both games of a home-and-home with Massachusetts in 2016-2017.
