Mike Scott off of the minutes restriction, ready to do more for Sixers

The Philadelphia 76ers have been in need of help off their bench in recent weeks as the team has been dealing with injuries and a lot of changes to both the rotation and lineup.

One guy who recently returned to the team is Mike Scott, who provides a lot of the hustle plays and the energy off the bench the team needs. He’s also a guy who can knock down the 3-pointer, and he can give a lot of edge on the defensive end.

He missed 13 games after injuring his knee on Jan. 14 before finally returning on Feb. 13. Coach Doc Rivers had him on a minutes restriction, but that is no longer the case for the veteran out of Virginia.

“I don’t think I’m on restriction anymore,” said Scott on Monday. “It was probably around 18 or 17 minutes, something like that. I’m feeling a lot better.”

The Sixers limited him to 19 minutes in Saturday’s loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, but now that he is off the restriction, the hope is he can come in and contribute again in a big way.

“Making the hustle plays, bringing energy to the team which is something we needed,” Scott added. “Making the hustle plays, 50-50 balls, just being active and working my way back into the swing of things.”

With Scott feeling much better, now he can get back to being who he is. He is a guy who brings the energy and brings the edge that the team needs. When a player is dealing with injuries like that, he can hold back and not go as hard.

That is no longer the case for Scott.

“The extra passes, the hustle plays now I feel better with my body, confident in it,” he finished. “You just do more stuff. Give yourself up more instead of just standing in a corner or not being active, not crashing, not cutting to the lane, or not diving on the floor. You just play with a free mind you can just do everything that you want.”
