Michigan State’s Tyson Walker listed in top five returning PG rankings
Michigan State’s Tyson Walker is considered to be one of the best returning point guards in all of college basketball.
KJ Smith — who played at North Carolina and now serves as a national basketball analyst on On3 — released a top five returning point guards ranking this week, and Walker was included on his list. Walker is the lone Big Ten player on this list and is joined by Jahvon Quinerly of Alabama, Remy Martin of Kansas, Caleb Love of North Carolina and Collin Gillespie of Villanova.
Here’s what Smith had to say about Walker:
Tyson Walker is a 6-0, 162-pound guard transfer for Michigan State. Walker is one of the hardest players to guard in college basketball because of his lightning-quick speed and a dangerous step-back jump shot. This lethal combination is the reason he averaged 18.8 points and 4.8 assists for the Northeastern Huskies.
As Smith noted, Walker is new to Michigan State this season after transferring from Northeastern. He is expected to start for the Spartans and could fill a huge hole on last year’s team at the point guard position.
