Michigan State baseball opens Big Ten play with series win

Michigan State has came home to East Lansing to open Big Ten play inside of McLane Stadium at Kobs Field against the Purdue Boilermakers. The Spartans came into the Big Ten opening series with a 11-7 record in the nonconference.

Fortunately for the Spartans, they came to play against the Boilermakers, winning the three game series.

The Spartans fell in game one to Purdue, 5-4, in a close contest from start to finish.

After a Saturday postponement, the Spartans and Boilermakers squared off in a double-header on Sunday. MSU swept that double header, winning game one, 5-4, and taking game two 12-6.

The Spartans are back in action on Wednesday against Western Michigan before traveling to New Jersey for a weekend series against Rutgers.
