Michigan RB Donovan Edwards says retweet of Kanye West antisemitic stance 'was a glitch'

Michigan football running back Donovan Edwards posted a social media message on Thursday morning to clarify an antisemitic tweet that was retweeted by his account.

Late Wednesday night, Donovan Edwards' Twitter account retweeted a clip of a video of Kanye West sharing antisemitic rhetoric.

The caption of the tweet reads: "Jewish people will literally tell you that they want you to kill your own and humiliate your women simply because they have children to feed."

On Thursday, Edwards posted on Twitter, calling the retweet "a glitch."

"The retweet was a glitch," Edwards wrote on Twitter. "I speak for myself I know what's in my heart. I am unequivocally against racism, exploitation & oppression in all forms, including stereotyping and trafficking in hate.

"I have nothing but love for others & I never judge anyone based on race or religion."

The Detroit Free Press reached out to a Michigan football spokesman for further comment but the message was not immediately been returned.

Edwards and the fourth-ranked Wolverines (7-0, 4-0 Big Ten) host rival Michigan State (3-4, 1-3) on Saturday night at Michigan Stadium. Edwards had the best game of his career in Michigan's last outing, when he ran 16 times for 177 yards and two touchdowns and caught another pass for 21 yards, in a 41-17 rout of Penn State.
